I came up with the idea for this card as I was going through my stamp sets looking for one I hadn’t used in awhile (or at all) and I came across Paradise Palms. I immediately knew it would a great fit for the Peace to You stamp set since the Middle East where Jesus was born has a lot of desert. I then also decided to add a sleeping baby fawn from Peaceful Deer to the motif. The background paper is from Hues of Happiness. One side of that Designer Series Paper features flowers, but the reverse side contains varying colors that look like watercolor wash. It couldn’t be easier.
In the photo sample above, the nativity scene with Mary, Joseph and baby Jesus was stamped with Night of Navy ink. However, in the video, I stamped it with Starry Sky. At first, I liked the way it looked with Starry Sky, but once it dried, I felt it was a little too blue – like Pacific Point, and it didn’t really match the darker blue of the background paper. So, my personal preference is to go with Night of Navy.
- Starry Sky Card base: 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ – score at 4 1/4″
- Basic White
- 5 1/4″ x 4″ – Cut 2 (for the front and inside)
- 5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″ to stamp nativity image, palm trees ad baby fawn
- Hues of Happiness color wash Designer Series Paper 5″ x 3 3/4″
- 5″ x 1″ strip of Crumb Cake cardstock
