I don’t know about you, but I am always in need of another bookmark. I have so many things I’m reading – from seed catalogs, magazines and books that I need a lot of bookmarks. So, I got the idea to include one in my latest Mother’s Day card. The beauty of it is that you can write a sweet note on the back. And every time she picks up her book and sees the bookmark, she will remember that you are the one who gave it to her. How sweet to know that you will be in someone’s tender thoughts almost daily.

Spend time with your mom this Mother’s Day, or with any of the remarkable women in your life – there are so many, right? They deserve all of our love.

I am excited to say the Very Versailles stamp set that I used to make this card, is being carried over to Stampin’ Up’s new 2021-2022 Annual Catalog which will be available beginning May 4th. The new catalog will be posted on my blog on that day and will be available to download.

The Very Versailles stamp set has the most elegant images. Here’s a stamping tip: Stamp the script image on your card as a background by stamping off once. Then stamp the leaves over it in a darker color (without stamping off). It will give your card a real wow factor! And don’t be limited by colors. The leaves don’t HAVE to be green. Don’t be afraid to make your color theme something unusual – Coastal Cabana, Poppy Parade or Gorgeous Grape. Sure, leaves aren’t that color in nature, but they can be the color of leaves in your world. Give it a try! You can find the Very Versailles stamp set in my online store along with a variety of inkpad colors. Just click the link at the end of this post to shop in my store.

The other stamp sets I used for the card are Strong & Beautiful, Posted for You and Textured Essentials. These stamp sets will be retiring on May 4th when the new catalog is released. Once they are retired, they will only be available while supplies last. They are very popular stamp sets and will sell out quickly. You definitely want these before they’re gone!

Here are the details of how to make this card:

Supplies

  • Stamp sets: Very Versailles, Posted for You, Strong & Beautiful, Textured Essentials
  • Tasteful Textiles 3D Embossing Folder
  • Cardstock: Gray Granite, Basic White and Very Vanilla
  • Gray Granite Classic Stampin Pad
  • Ribbon: Blushing Bride Metallic Ribbon, Fine Art Gold Ribbon, White ribbon from Flowers for Every Season and Linen twine
  • Heart Charms from Jan-June mini catalog (retiring soon, so get them while you can!)
  • Adhesive: Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Stampin Seal+, dimensionals

Instructions

  • Cut Gray Granite cardstock 4 1/4″ x 11″ and score at 5 1/2″. Burnish folded edge with bone folder
  • Cut white cardstock 5 1/4″ x 4″
  • Stamp the top right image in the Textured Essentials stamp set (see photo below)
  • Using sponge dauber with Gray Granite ink, run the dauber all around the edges of the cardstock to give it just a hint of color. Then then emboss with Tasteful Textiles embossing folder. DO NOT ADHERE TO CARD BASE YET.
  • Cut a length of white ribbon and adhere the ends to the back of the embossed layer. Do not tack the ribbon down in the front. Leave it loose because you will be tucking the bookmark in there. When adhering the ribbon ends to the back, I suggest using Stampin Seal+. Liquid glue and regular Stampin Seal are not strong enough.
  • Next cut a length of Fine Art ribbon and lay it above the white ribbon – glue ends down in the back just as you did with the white ribbon.
  • Cut a length of Blushing Bride metallic ribbon and lay it at the bottom of the white ribbon and again, glue ends down in the back.
  • Then you can adhere this layer to the card base.

BOOKMARK INSTRUCTIONS

  • Cut a piece of white cardstock 2″ x 3″. Daub Gray Granite ink all around the edges using a sponge dauber
  • Cut a piece of Very Vanilla 1 3/4″ x 2 3/4″
    • Using stamping off method*, stamp script image from Very Versailles using Gray Granite ink.
      • *Stamp the ink off once on scrap paper and then stamp onto cardstock so it’s a softer image.
    • Stamp the rick-rack image from Very Versailles and the Special Delivery image from Posted for You using full strength Gray Granite. No need to stamp off. You want these images to stand out from the background.
    • Trim the top right and left edges of both pieces to create a tag effect. I just used paper snips.
    • Adhere the Very Vanilla piece to the slightly larger white piece.
    • Punch a small hole at the top using a craft store hole puncher. A regular one is since the two layers are not very thick.
    • Cut a length of linen twine, fold in half and push the looped end through the hole.
    • String the heart charm through the loose ends.
    • Then loop the loose ends through the looped end and pull tight to secure.
    • Tie a small knot at the end.
    • Tuck the bookmark behind the strips of ribbon which should hold it in place.
  • Stamp Happy Mother’s Day from the Strong & Beautiful stamp set onto a piece of white cardstock 3 1/4″ x 1/2″ and adhere it to a slightly larger strip of Gray Granite measuring 3 1/2″ x 3/4″.
  • Then pop it up on dimensionals and adhere it to the top of your card.
